Sopot and Gdynia from Gdansk: Yacht Trip, Spy Game or a Private Day in the Tri-City?
4 min read
The most-reviewed trip that starts in Sopot is the 50-minute sailing yacht cruise from Sopot Marina: 443 reviews, rated 4.7/5, from €21.59 per person. Sopot and Gdynia sit next to Gdansk, and the booking pages treat them as a trio, the Tri-City. What you do there depends on whether you want one hour on the water or a whole day of driving around.
A sailing yacht from Sopot Pier
The yacht cruise around the bay takes 50 minutes and starts at Sopot Marina, at the end of the pier on the side opposite the Meridian restaurant. The operator, Premium Yachting, writes that the route follows the wind, either towards the Orłowo cliffs and Gdynia or towards Gdansk and the port, and that the skipper lets you take the helm if you like. There is an open deck, a covered cabin and a toilet on board. The booking page lists a skipper, a welcome drink, water, blankets and life jackets among the inclusions. The drink changes with the season: alcohol-free Prosecco in spring and summer, mulled wine in autumn and winter, with tea as an alcohol-free alternative.
Two costs and rules are easy to miss. Entry to the pier is not included; the page gives PLN 10 per person in the summer season, payable at the pier entrance. And the page asks you to arrive 5 minutes before departure and to allow about 10 minutes to walk along the pier. It lists people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users as not suitable.
The sunset version lasts 105 minutes and costs €39.78 per person. It has the same meeting point and the same inclusions; departure times follow the sunset, so they move through the year. The same operator excludes people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users on the 50-minute trip, so ask before you book if anyone in your group has limited mobility.
A spy game on foot
The spy-themed walk and game costs €18.21 per person and takes 2 hours. The page stresses that this is not a guided tour: a host starts and ends the game, but does not walk with you. You complete tasks at 8 points of interest on a route of about 4 km, starting outside Sopot Train Station at ul. Dworcowa 7. It is offered in Polish and English. The page calls the game family-friendly, yet lists as not suitable: children under 8, pregnant women, people over 70, people with a low level of fitness, and people with back or heart problems, vertigo, respiratory issues, a cold or recent surgery. Hotel pickup and food are not included.
A private day across three cities
Two private tours cover Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia in one go. The 7-hour full-day tour costs €206.84 per person with an English-speaking guide. It includes private transport, the guide, tickets to St. Mary’s Church and the Oliwa Cathedral concert, and parking, and it offers pickup from hotels in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia. Children under 7 go free, according to the page. The 8-hour private tour costs €297 per person for groups of up to 15 people, with guides in eight languages. It includes transport, a guide, entry to Oliwa Cathedral with the concert and entry to the sailing ship Dar Pomorza in Gdynia, and the page also lists a demonstration of amber polishing. Both also include Gdansk itself, with the Old Town and Oliwa, so these are Tri-City tours, not Sopot tours.

Our recommendation
If you have one free afternoon, the yacht cruise is the easy choice: it is short, it has the most reviews of the options here, and it needs nothing more than getting to the pier. Pick the private day only if you want transport and a guide without planning, and you are happy to spend the day in the car and on foot. More choices are listed under day trips, and the Gdansk boat trips are compared in our Motława guide.
