Stutthof from Gdansk: Guided Tour, Private Driver or Public Bus?
4 min read
The Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo is the site of the former German Nazi concentration camp Stutthof (1939 to 1945); the most-reviewed trip from Gdansk is a five-hour guided tour with 400 reviews, rated 4.6/5. It is a memorial, not an excursion in the usual sense, and the way you get there decides how much you take in.
What the museum itself says
According to the museum’s official visitor information, entry is free of charge. A guided tour takes up to 1.5 hours in the basic version and up to 2 hours in the extended version; an individual visit takes about 2 hours. Groups should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start. Hours depend on the season: from 1 May, daily from 8:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:30; from 1 October, daily from 8:00 to 15:00 with last entry at 14:30. In the winter months that leaves a short day, so an early start matters.
The museum states that children under 13 can visit only under adult supervision. The operators below all list children under 13 as not suitable or not recommended, so their rule is the one that applies to your booking. There is no cloakroom or luggage storage, and animals (except assistance dogs), alcohol, smoking, motor vehicles and bicycles are not allowed on the grounds. Dress appropriately for the place.
Guided minibus tour
The five-hour tour with a minibus and English-speaking guide costs €108.75 per person. The booking page lists hotel pickup and drop-off (pickup in Gdansk or Sopot), the guide for the museum, entrance and parking fees. Food and drinks are not included. The description puts the guided part inside the museum at 2 hours, the notes on the same page at up to 2.5 hours in the extended version; the rest is the drive, around an hour each way. Bags larger than 30 × 20 × 10 cm are not allowed on the grounds, and sleeveless shirts and smoking are listed as not allowed.
Smaller or private groups
The small-group tour takes up to 8 people, lasts 4 hours and costs €127.98 per person. Pickup is from any hotel in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia, and the guided tour at Stutthof takes about 2 hours.
The private tour with Rosotravel costs €224.98 per person and runs 5 to 7 hours. It guarantees 2 hours of guided sightseeing at Stutthof regardless of traffic and includes museum tickets and the cinema ticket. A seven-hour version adds Westerplatte, the Museum of the Second World War or the Old Town. The page lists guides in nine languages, including German, Polish, Swedish, Spanish, Italian and French. The half-day private tour from Tours in Gdansk costs €175.47 per person for groups of up to 17 people, with guides in English, German or Polish, and includes transport, a guide, entrance tickets and parking.
Driver only, or the bus
The private round-trip transfer is priced from €193.20, and the booking page prices it per group, for up to 3 people, with up to 7 in the vehicle. The driver waits up to 2 hours and is not a museum guide; there is no guided tour inside. It suits people who already know the site or want to walk it alone.
You can also go by public bus. The museum names PKS line 870 from Gdansk to the stop Sztutowo Muzeum; check the timetable before you plan the return. If you drive yourself, the museum has a self-service car park, paid by cash or card.

Our recommendation
For most visitors the guided minibus tour is the right choice: transport, a guide and entry are in one booking, and it has the most reviews of the trips compared here. Take the small-group tour (up to 8 people, guide in English) if you want a quieter visit, or one of the private tours if you need a guide in another language. The full range is under Stutthof tours, and two other wartime sites are covered in our guides to Westerplatte and the Museum of the Second World War.
